Two things break glass on this peninsula. First is the overnight break-in. Streets ending at the water get no through traffic and very little foot traffic after dark, so a car left out all night with something visible on the seat is an easy mark, and one punch takes the tempered pane out completely. Second is corrosion. Salt works into the window channels and into the pinchweld under the windshield, and a seal that has been fighting the marine air for a decade never comes out clean. Add the truck movement around the Zerega blocks, which drops sand and stone across the roadway, plus the Bruckner merges up top where everybody accelerates hard. Stone chips collected there travel across a windshield fast once the temperature drops.
Get on the Bruckner Expressway at the top of the neighborhood, run west, and stay with it where it feeds the Cross Bronx Expressway westbound. Come off at the Jerome Avenue exit and turn south. Call it seven miles and roughly twenty minutes when the Cross Bronx behaves itself, noticeably longer through the afternoon. The shop sits on Jerome under the elevated 4 train between the Mount Eden Avenue and 176th Street stops, and the columns make the block hard to miss and the curb lane narrow.
