Mobile work is priced the same as in-shop for standard jobs across our regular Bronx service area, with a small travel charge quoted up front if you are farther out. On-site jobs run about an hour to ninety minutes plus cure time. Straight talk for Parkchester: driving the six miles to Jerome Avenue is usually faster, and the van is for people who cannot.

The van carries the same glass, the same urethane and the same lifetime workmanship warranty as the bay on Jerome Avenue. It goes out for the cases where a car genuinely cannot be driven: a windshield cracked clean across the driver's view, a side window smashed out with rain in the forecast, a work vehicle somebody else has to sign off on before it moves. We need a legal, reasonably level place to park it, plus enough room to open both doors and walk a piece of glass around the car. Weather counts as well, since urethane does not cure properly in a downpour.
Here is where we tell Parkchester drivers no. Most indoor parking around the development has low clearance and pillars close to the drive lanes, which leaves a technician no room to swing a windshield and, on some ramps, no way to get the van down there at all. An open interior lot is better, but the car still has to sit out its cure time where it stands, and that space has to hold. Sunroof panels and anything we have to order in belong under our roof. Six miles on the Cross Bronx beats waiting on a van most days, and we say so on the phone.
“This team was great! Someone broke into my car and I went to their shop to fix my window. They completed the window and vacuumed my car within an hour.”

Parkchester is one of the few places where we regularly talk drivers out of mobile service. The development was built around interior parking, and interior parking here means posted clearances, low ceilings and concrete pillars standing between the drive lane and the bays. Our van is a van. It does not fit down every ramp, and even where it does, a technician needs a clear arc around the windshield opening that a pillar-flanked space will not give him. Curb space off Metropolitan Avenue and Unionport Road is no kinder, because the spot has to survive the install and the cure that follows it, and holding a space that long here is asking a lot. The exception is a car that truly cannot move. For everything else, Hugh J. Grant Circle to the Cross Bronx and west is the faster answer.
Same service, same price, other Bronx neighborhoods:
It is the same price for standard jobs inside our regular Bronx service area, and Parkchester sits well inside it. Nothing gets added for the trip. What mobile really costs you is flexibility, because the tech is working around your schedule and your parking, and if the weather turns or the space falls through the job moves. Driving in costs six miles and buys you a proper bay.
Sometimes, and we ask about it before anyone is dispatched. The questions are the clearance at the ramp, whether the van itself can get down there, and how much room sits between your car and the nearest pillar. An open lot space usually works fine. A tight stall with concrete on both sides usually does not, and we would rather say that on the phone than send a tech out to look.
